Dr. Hari Kalva is a Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Computer & Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Florida Atlantic University, as well as Director of FAU Multimedia Lab. He is an expert in the area of video compression and communication with experience in research, development, standardization, and commercialization of video technologies. One focus area of his research is understanding and applying human visual perception, cognition, and social context to optimize video quality and reduce bandwidth needed for video services.
Dr. Kalva received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in 2000, an M.S. in Computer Engineering from Florida Atlantic University in 1994, and a B. Tech. in Electronics and Communications Engineering from N.B.K.R. Institute of Science and Technology, S.V. University, Tirupati, India in 1991.
